As State Director for the state of Florida, Chris Johnson is an independent contractor of Men of Iron, responsible for leading, growing and organizing Men of Iron’s Strong27™ mentorship ministry through the implementation of partner churches, communities and regions.
“I had always pursued mentors in business and career endeavors, and one day it just clicked for me that I needed to find a spiritual mentor first.” Chris began meeting with a mentor twice a month. A year later, in 2016, Chris’s home church of Idlewild Baptist began evaluating the Men of Iron ministry, and Chris and his mentor Rob were eager to help. Chris and Rob were very influential in helping promote Men of Iron throughout Idlewild’s men’s ministry, and later that year Chris felt a calling to be more than just a participant.
“I was sitting in the protege training, and I felt the Holy Spirit pulling on me in a way I can’t explain. I knew there was something much bigger going on.” Chris and Men of Iron Executive Director Garret Barbush connected immediately after, and a little over a year later Chris had the privilege of becoming a part-time staff member at Men of Iron. He is leading the implementation and growth of Strong27™ in his local church and other church partners. As well as promoting the ministry throughout the greater Tampa Bay community.
Chris has a marketing degree from Cedarville University and an MBA from Arizona State University. He is currently employed in the technology space and is actively pursuing God’s calling in his life and work. “Men of Iron is one incredible way to spend some of my free time. In an area of passion for me, yet one that also blesses the kingdom!”
Chris and his wife Jamie live in Tampa, Florida with their two daughters, Emma and Rosalind. He enjoys being outdoors, fitness, football season, and spending time with his family and friends. Chris is active in his local church, Idlewild Baptist, and also enjoys entrepreneurial pursuits in his spare time.
