As Men of Iron’s President & CEO, Garret Barbush is charged with leading and executing the organization’s vision. His work includes supporting ministry participants and pastors, connecting with advocates and guiding team members. He is particularly passionate about how the organization serves its churches. “Men of Iron is filling a void in our culture, and we’re providing a significant, needed resource to the church for free. It’s who we are, it’s in our DNA.”
As both a protégé and a mentor, Garret experienced the ministry’s powerful impact. In fact, one of his mentors helped him identify his heart to work in ministry full-time. “My mentor did what we encourage our mentors to do: he saw gifts in me that I didn’t see in myself and encouraged me to pursue an opportunity to live out my calling.”
Garret was increasingly called to full-time ministry — so much so that when Bryan approached him one evening about the Executive Director role, Garret was on Bryan’s doorstep at 6:15 the next morning eagerly accepting the position. “I felt my gifts in ministry and in business lined up well for this role and I was all in.” He has been with Men of Iron since 2011.
Garret studied business administration at Malone University and went on to receive his MBA from Lebanon Valley College. Prior to Men of Iron, he worked both in finance and as an entrepreneur. At the same time, he was an active volunteer and led the young adult ministry at his church. “I’d always felt a calling in my life to work in ministry, and I felt God was equipping me and preparing me.”
Garret and his wife, Eden, have two daughters, Kendall & Blayke. A longtime wrestler, Garret enjoys coaching wrestling today. He also loves spending time outdoors, including golfing, hunting, camping, hiking and cycling. He and his family attend Victory Church in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
