Choose the Pathway to Freedom | EP. 152

On EP. 152 Garret is back in the book of James as he discusses what it looks like to choose a pathway to freedom. Over the past few weeks we’ve discussed this idea of choosing two pathways when faced with trials. We can choose to consider it “pure joy” when we face trials or we can choose to the path of fear and anxiety. When we choose pathway #1, we persevere and mature and the result is, we do what God’s Word says. When we take the pathway of anxiety and fear, we will ultimately fall to temptation. When we fall into temptation we feel distant from God and ultimately become angry at ourselves. In James chapter 1, James gives us 3 practical steps to a pathway of freedom. Except the trial with joy and anticipation, ask God for wisdom in the midst of the trial, and do what God’s Word says.

• Garret has been spending time in James 1 – take some time this week to read through James 1 and journal what sticks out to you
• We’ve talked over the past couple weeks (in James 1) about trials and temptations
• Like we mentioned two weeks ago, we can either consider it “pure joy” when we face trials or we can face trials with fear and anxiety
• When we persevere and mature the result is, we do what God’s Word says
• “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” // James 1:22
