Jesus, A Man On A Mission| EP. 114

“God calls each of us to be his vessels.”

// Garret Barbush

On EP. 114 Garret is back as he breaks down what it took for Jesus to fulfill his mission on the cross. We often fail to remember that Jesus was human with human emotions. Jesus endured pain physically and emotionally. He was a man with a mission, and he never flipped into “God mode” when things got tough. Jesus let nothing distract him from departing for Jerusalem. He knew his time was near. As a man of God, you too have a mission. What is your mission for today?

Takeaways:

  • We tend to think of Jesus in this super hero light, however he was flesh and blood. Just like us
  • We often fail to remember that Jesus was human with human emotions
  • Jesus endured pain physically and emotionally
  • He was a man with a mission, and he never flipped into “God mode” when things got tough
  • “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.” Philippians 2:6-7 (NIV)
  • Jesus let nothing distract him from departing for Jerusalem. He knew his time was near
  • We cannot look back, we have got to look forward to the mission at hand
  • The focus to press on towards Jerusalem was so intense that it could be seen on his countenance
  • Jesus had a unique mission and it modeled the truest form of masculinity
  • Men, we will never live up to what Jesus did. But we must not forget that God gives each one of us a mission
  • But, you have to quiet the noise to get some clarity, focus and direction from God
  • Once you understand that mission we must look to Jesus as our model
  • Jesus had a willingness to do the hard stuff
  • God calls each of us to be his vessels
  • To be a vessel requires obedience, it requires us to say no to other opportunities. It requires humility to do something we might not want to do
  • Our challenge to you today, posture yourself to receive God’s mission and don’t stray from the path
  • God’s plans have to be the foundation for what’s motivating us
  • What is God’s mission for you to today? Start there
  • Focus, determination, grit to live out that mission – that is biblical masculinity
