Building on a Firm Foundation | EP. 166

“If you are going to build your dream home, it better be on a firm foundation.” – Travis Albanesius

On EP. 166 Travis is back to talk about focusing on a firm foundation. When it comes to be an athlete you need a firm foundation. If you have a firm foundation you are stronger and better equipped to withstand a hit. Today we are going to talk about the importance of having a firm foundation. In Matthew 7:24 Jesus is telling the people, storms are going to come and the houses that we are building are going to be tested. Are you building your house on rock or are you building it on sand?

SHOW NOTES:

  • This week we are talking about how to be a better man
  • To be the best man you can be, the first and most important thing you can do is to trust in Jesus!
  • Next you have to build your relationship with Jesus
  • Last week the action step was to schedule uninterrupted time with God
  • When it comes to be an athlete you need a firm foundation
  • If you have a firm foundation you are stronger
  • Today we are going to talk about the importance of having a firm foundation
  • “The wise and foolish builders: Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” – Matthew 7:24-27 (NIV)
  • Jesus was telling them, storms are going to come and the houses that we are building are going to be tested
  • Are you building your house on rock or are you building it on sand?
  • True wisdom is to know God’s Word AND do what it says
  • “But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.” – James 1:25 (NIV)
  • When you follow Jesus and live within the guidlines God’s Word gives us, it leads to freedom
  • If you are going to build your dream home, it better be on a firm foundation
  • How does this relate to my faith?
  • Men, we are all building our “dream homes” – we are all building our lives
  • We often focus on the other things, that we neglect the foundational stuff to focus on the exciting stuff
  • At Men of Iron we focus on the 5F’s – faith, family, friends, fitness and finances
  • We need to seek balance in these 5 areas of our lives
  • But it starts with FAITH
  • We need to evaluate our foundation and we can strengthen it
  • Our foundation needs the highest amount of time, energy and focus
  • Ask God how YOU can strengthen your soil, strengthen your foundation
  • Men, we must pursue our God-given dreams and goals
  • But you have to pursue them in the right away, allow God to reveal them to you
  • Slow down, get quiet and spend time with God
  • And then we do what He says
  • That’s how you establish a firm foundation
  • Keep building the habits – reading your Bible, prayer, journaling – that strengthen your foundation
