Prioritizing Souls Over Stats
This week we kick off our Faith in Sports Series with a powerful testimony from Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Cavs Chaplain Nobles Darby IV!! WATCH THE EPISODE HERE!
Despite his influence in professional sports, Nobles Darby IV is most concerned with how he wins at home. He’s been married for over a decade and is a proud father of a baby boy. For Nobles his ministry begins at home. 1 Timothy 3:5: “For if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church?”
His heart is for his city and it shows. He has a passion for making disciples, and building community—not just on Sundays, but in everyday life.
“At the end of the day, even though our giftings are different, there is one assignment we all share: go and make disciples.”
At the core of his story is the understanding that faith isn’t measured in wins and losses but in lives changed. In the sports world where performance is everything, he reminds athletes that their identity isn’t in their stats, but in Jesus. And showing them what it looks like to use their platform for good.
His story is a testament to God’s ability to redeem, restore, and use brokenness for a greater purpose. No matter how far we may stray, God is always calling us back, ready to use us for His glory.
As we continue this Faith in Sports Series, let’s remember that true success is found in faithfulness to God’s calling—not just in sports, but in every aspect of life.
