The Men of Iron Minute

Taken

Jacy Erin, a popular YouTuber, became a victim of identity theft. Getting more and more crafty, cybercriminals gained access to her mother’s email account and obtained sensitive information such as credit card details and phone numbers. They contacted Erin’s phone service provider and redirected all incoming calls meant for Erin and her parents to their own phones.

Thinking she was clear, Erin discovered the invasion early and regained control of their phone service. However, a few days later, her father discovered that the fraudsters had made unauthorized purchases of nearly $40,000 using his credit card. To make matters worse, the credit card company’s verification calls went straight to the scammers. As horrible and irritating as identity theft can be, some things cannot be taken.

As prolific men’s writer Stu Weber said, “People, events, evil schemes, disasters, catastrophes can take things away from you—things on the outside. But no one can ever take away what’s on the inside—heart, soul, character. A man can throw it away, but no one can ever take it away.”[1]

Mentorship and retreat experiences in the outdoors offer well-respected ways of developing the inner parts of a man. The heart, soul, and character are formed along the climb to manhood.

What Jesus brings can’t be taken away.

Do something.

Dare greatly.

Be a better man.
