(G)IVING BACK
“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-6 NIV)
Receiving gifts is great, but most of us find great joy in giving gifts. Not much in this world tops watching the look of anticipation on someone’s face as they realize how much they are loved and appreciated. Have you ever thought about how God feels when we utilize the spiritual gifts He has given us? Think about that for a moment.
When we choose to give away what He has given us, heaven roars. After all, the gifts are not ours. Rather, the purpose is to help others unlock truth within their own personal narratives.Is this true in your own life as you’ve reached out to other men, continued in your workouts, and began forging a new identity within?
Psalm 139 is a great passage to mediate on as we continue our journey together. Each of us have been “fearfully and wonderfully made.” God has set each of us apart for this time and season in HIStory.
Gifts come naturally to men, with little to no effort needed to model it. It’s simply a part of who you are, and you never lack that particular gift.
Personally, the gift of encouragement is that for me. It naturally oozes from me, and I’ve been encouraged to be a Barnabas (Son of Encouragement) to my generation.
When my garage gym and fitness ministry was being built, I knew people needed encouragement, here. The spiritual gift of encouragement that was given to me was not by accident. God knew what He would do with my life.
Likewise, the spiritual gifts you’ve been given are not by accident. They have been purposely deposited by the hand of God. Press into them and know He has given them, and He can always refill them.
