Being a Dad

Being a dad is the hardest thing I have ever done, and I longed to be a dad. Camping in the deep woods. Playing catch in the yard, stomping through creeks and rivers, and climbing rocks amid the brush of a wilderness trek deep into the unknown. The dreams and grandeur have been fulfilled and destroyed over the last 27 years. Though expectations and eagerness ran high, I stepped into fatherhood excited for the future. One thing, however, that I was not ready for was the attack that fatherhood brought on my selfishness. Like a snake that needs to shed old skin, I needed to shed the cross of selfishness. Fatherhood is a sacred responsibility.

Fatherhood is about sharing a part of you. The best of you into the heart of them. “Them” … those little humans God placed into your life to influence and impact with love, grace, and understanding. We offer guidance on how to establish a strong foundation of faith through prayer and devotion, making it an integral part of your family’s daily routine. Fathers understand the significance of setting godly values, boundaries, and discipline in your child’s life. Hence, learning how to handle challenging situations gracefully, always keeping your child’s ultimate good in mind.

As a father, you are a beacon of guidance, shaping your child’s character through your own actions and choices. Good dads wade into the troubling waters of conflict with open communication and the Spirit’s guidance. Loving and secure environments are created when Dad accepts responsibility. The influence of a dad is off the charts.

The quickest way to lose your influence is by being unaware that you have it. Be Dad.

Be a mentor.

Find a mentor.

Be a better man.
