Feeling Unworthy

A Christian man can wrestle with feeling like he’s not good enough to pray. I have been there, and I am positive that if we were having a conversation over a beverage, you would agree. Feeling the weight of imperfections, men can carry the weight of past mistakes and their own imperfections, making them hesitant to approach God. It’s like he’s lost in a storm of doubt, unsure if he’s worthy of God’s presence. I know it sounds a bit churchy, but it’s still true.

Unworthiness hits hard….

Even good men strive to honor God with who they are and what they do. Deep down, a godly man clings to his faith, believing that even in weakness, he can connect with God. He knows God’s love goes beyond human flaws, so he musters up the courage to lay bare his doubts, fears, and shortcomings before the Heavenly Father. He hopes that he’ll find the grace and understanding he seeks by acknowledging his unworthiness.

A godly man can pray open and honest prayers because Jesus made a way.

Ephesians 3:12 NIV, “In him and through faith in him, we may approach God with freedom and confidence.”

Jesus made a way.

Just pray.

This week’s Men of Iron minutes are directed at breaking myths around prayer, and each blog was inspired by Episode 179 of the Men of Iron Podcast entitled “Tools for a Healthy Marriage, Part 1”. It was fire!
