On Monday we talked about “Four Key Reasons Accountability is Essential.” To be more like Jesus, to encourage one another, to strengthen friendships and to take ownership of our lives.
Recognizing the importance of accountability is one thing; seeking it out is another.
For men, stepping outside of our comfort zone and being vulnerable enough to ask another man for help seems daunting. But the reality is, that friend, co-worker or guy at church that you look up to will want to help and be that person that you can confide in.
Here are four practical steps:
1. Pray and Reflect: Ask God to guide you in identifying who that person in your life is.
2. Make a List: Write down some guys in your life who you really admire. Men who love Jesus and live with integrity.
3. Step Outside Your Comfort Zone: Consider finding someone outside your immediate circle, like a guy from your Bible study or a guy at church.
4. Commit to the Process: Accountability takes time and effort but the growth that comes out of it is worth it.
Accountability is worth it.
While it may feel like a significant commitment, it is invaluable. It will help you identify the struggles that slow you down, and it will help you become the man God called you to be.
