Give More Money Away

“What’s the biggest difference we can make with our money?”

I want to challenge you to start thinking that way. Most likely, In every area of our lives where we have seen growth, it is because we denied ourselves. If your family is thriving, it’s because you started spending more time with them. If your business is thriving, it’s because you started spending more time building it up.

If you are getting healthier and your fitness is improving, it’s because you decided to start eating healthier and spending some time working out. If your faith is growing, it’s because you decided to focus more on Jesus and less on yourself.

Every time you direct attention away from yourself toward something else that something else grows.

It’s profound to see how simplistic it is. You won’t grow in the financial area of your life by keeping all of your finances for yourself. Growth comes when you direct it toward something else. Think about what this would look like in your life. Start asking, “How much can I give away?” instead of, “How much can I keep?”

I get it. I never like it when I look at my budget and my paycheck quickly disappears. But if it’s dwindling away to invest in something God is doing, it’s not going away. That money is an investment. God will use it. That’s what being a faithful steward looks like.

Measure your financial success by how much you contribute to God’s Kingdom. Stop watching your net worth. Start tracking your kingdom impact. Keep track of that number every time you give money away.

When you die, how high will that number be? How many lives will be transformed by your generosity? How many will receive medical care enabled by your giving? How many families could find shelter and stability thanks to the homes built with your support? How many churches will grow because you were a cheerful giver?

How many hearts will be drawn to Jesus by your investing?

Challenge yourself by trying to give more away, year after year. Watch what God does in your life and the lives around you. Remember the stories. You won’t be disappointed.
