Greater is He Than Me 

Jack is a good man. His wisdom exceeds his years and has earned every wrinkle in his weathered face. Jack’s life has taken a great turn. The drugs and women took years but failed to take his faith and hope. The lure of the world dangled in front of him as a young man, and after a long battle, he recovered, and now, he leads others to recovery. He’s a picture of a man who walked with the Devil unknowingly and then turned back towards God passionately.

If you see Jack today, he has a long ministry list of people caught up in the world that nearly drug him down. Strikingly, Jack would be listed as “most likely never to become a Christian” in high school. But then again, they only knew of Jack’s past, and only God knew of Jack’s future. Jack’s burden for the lost and least of these is like his savior, Jesus Christ.

Jack’s mind suffered from drugs and alcohol, and by God’s grace, he has created new learning pathways and greater pathways of loving. Jack learned this nifty mantra that has brought him through some dark days, “Greater is He than me….” At a recovery meeting, a brother in recovery taught a lesson about bearing God’s image. Jack had never heard of such things, so he pressed in. Jack discovered that being an image bearer meant that every aspect of a person had a divine signature. Our Creator has hard-wired intelligence, emotions, will, and desire.

Jack is a pillar in his community.

Jack serves the God he surrendered to.
