It’s Tebow Time

Influence and fatherhood are two powerful aspects of a Christian man’s life. To drive this point home, we’ll look at the life of a legendary and controversial sports figure who modeled these qualities on and off the field. When we think of influence, we often think of people who can impact the lives of many. A sports figure who represented this is Tim Tebow. Tebow was known for his unshakable faith and his unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on and off the football field. By throwing touchdowns and fundraisers, Tebow has impacted the lives of many for good.

As Christian men, we are called to be influencers in our families and communities. Just as Tebow used his platform to share his faith, we should use our influence as a shining light for Christ. As Mark put it in his gospel, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand?”[1] Our children are watching our every move, and the way we live out our faith can leave a lasting impact.

Fatherhood, like sports, is a marathon, not a sprint. It requires discipline, dedication, and a never-give-up attitude. Whether you’re a wide-eyed, new father or in the latter stages of being a grandfather, our potential for godly influence is powerful! Fatherhood is not just about providing for our children’s physical needs but also their spiritual ones. We are called to be spiritual leaders in our homes, guiding our children toward a relationship with God. Just as Tebow’s commitment to his faith was evident in his actions, our faith should shine through in how we love and lead our families.

Tim Tebow’s journey was not without its challenges. He faced adversity and criticism, but he remained locked into his faith and purpose. As Christian fathers, we will encounter our fair share of challenges, but we must stay the course, trusting in God’s plan for our families.

Influence and fatherhood are closely intertwined.

Our impact as fathers can reach far beyond our immediate families

and into the lives of those we encounter.

So, as you run this race of fatherhood, remember the legacy you’re leaving behind. Strive to be an influencer like Tim Tebow, and may your journey be marked by unwavering faith, dedication, and love for your family, just as Christ loves us. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the world, one family at a time. Keep the faith, men, and keep running the race with all your heart.

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.

Let all that you do be done in love. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14, NIV84
