Know God, Know Your Purpose
As we discussed on Wednesday, to be a follower of Jesus is to help others follow him. Jesus’ words in Matthew 22 and 28 prove your true purpose is not rooted in what you do for a living or in the responsibilities you manage each day. Rather, your “Why” is simple—love God and make disciples! Your life should be focused on following the greatest commandment and living out the great commission.
Aiming for these two things will drive you out of bed with passion each morning, leading you on a meaningful, and adventurous path.
Men seek out mentorships for various reasons. Some men desire to learn from a man a season or two ahead of them and want to grow spiritually. Other men sign up because of a current challenging season or issue—marriage, fatherhood, purity, leadership, finances, anger, etc. Whatever the reason, the desire to improve something in your life is a good thing. The desire to be mentored or mentor another man is part of our journey to being the men God called us to be.
At Men of Iron our approach to mentorship is easy, we want men to know God and know their purpose.
Knowing your purpose will only develop in your life when you focus first on why you exist—to love God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. Jesus says that loving God is the single most important thing you will ever do. You will only truly flourish when your relationship with Him is your top priority.
This week on the podcast we sit down with a very special guest, Pastor Joby Martin, as we talk about what it means to stand firm in the faith & act like men!
