Multiplication Through Mentoring

When we look at the life of Jesus we see a life of mentorship and discipleship. He mentored 12 men, taught them, equipped them and poured His life into them. But that was NOT the end of the story. He sent these 12 men out to do the same, to multiply. As men, as believers, we are called to do the same.

Mentorship is a powerful tool for growth and transformation. At the heart of mentoring lies a principle that Jesus exemplified well. He didn’t just teach them; he invested in them. Encouraging them not just as followers, but as leaders who would go on to make Kingdom impact.

We have to be willing to teach others. It’s more than just teaching, there’s this investment side of it. I’m actually going to invest my life into you and be willing to invite you into my journey. Why should we mentor, why should we multiply? Because Jesus shows us very clearly in scripture.

After teaching and equipping them, Jesus sent them out to multiply their impact. He charged them with the responsibility of mentoring others, creating a generational ripple effect. This model for mentorship and multiplication is a powerful reminder that the investment we make today has eternal impact.

Why should you be a mentor? Mentorship is more than just advice or teaching; it’s about investing in another man. It’s about taking the time to pour into someone else’s life, to walk with them through their faith journey.

In Jesus’ model of mentorship, we see why it’s so important for us to invest our time and energy into others. Mentoring isn’t always easy; it requires your time and commitment. It requires patience, and vulnerability. But the reward is eternal.

This week on the podcast Lou Zoeller talks a lot about the impact that mentorship has had on his life.
