Pivots & U-Turns

I can get motivated to do something quickly. It may be a trip out of town, a new challenge, or a spiritual rhythm. I can jump on that train and take off full of vim and vigor. A little while back, I started reading a biography of Abraham Lincoln, and I was all in. It is a thick and meaty book, and I was stoked to learn about the rail-splitting president that practiced law in my hometown. After hours of dredging through middle earth, I stalled out. I tried to muster up the willpower to finish over and over, and then, yesterday, I put it back on the shelf. It didn’t fit my needs. I didn’t lose interest in reading. I lost interest in that book.

Point being. You may decide to pursue a goal or interest and pivot into something else if it stops serving you. Life is too short to be miserable. After all, Jesus offers life to the full (John 10:10). Enjoy the journey and the destination of reaching your goals.

Who you are determines what you do.

What you do displays who you are.

Dare greatly.

Live humbly.

Be a better man.
