Lean on the Holy Spirit | EP. 148

When we lean on the power of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome anything.” // Garret Barbush

On EP. 148 Garret is in book of Galatians as he continues the conversation about standing firm in the midst of life’s challenges. In Galatians 6 Paul tell us, “Let us not become weary in doing good.” Weariness ultimately leads to giving up. Men, this is why mentorship and community are so important. We need others who will hold us accountable and rally around us when life gets hard. When we lean on community and on the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome anything.

SHOW NOTES:

  • Last week we talked about standing firm when life is hard
  • “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:7-10
  • Men, a lot of times when we are in the midst of a challenge, our tendency is to give up
  • We read here in Galatians 6 it says, “Let us not become weary.”
  • Weariness will come, but do not give up
  • As men we are suppose to fight the good fight and keep the faith
  • There is a harvest that we cannot even fathom on the other side of NOT giving up
  • This is why mentorship and community is so vital!
  • You need others with you on the journey
  • If we don’t have these relationships, you will become weary and ultimately give up and throw in the towel
  • How do we not become weary?
  • “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lordwhose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
  • When the hard times come, God’s word tell us that our leaves are always green
  • When we trust in the Lord we will NEVER fail to bear fruit
  • When you are in the midst of a challenge, you cannot do it without the Holy Spirit
  • When we lean on the power of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome anything
  • Today’s challenge: Identify that obstacle in front of you and lean into the Holy Spirit
