Justin Watkins joins the pod for the month of August as we shift our focus to fitness and why fitness matters in regard to our faith.

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Paul is making the point that the choices you make with your physical body have a direct impact on your intimacy with God. There is no distinction between what I do physically and what I do spiritually. Men, God’s Spirit lives in you. To teach you about who He is and transform you. Fitness is taking care of the Temple of the Holy Spirit, both inside and outside. We are trusted with the gift of our physical bodies in order to bring God glory. This is why fitness matters!

    • We can’t fulfill the purpose that God has for us if our bodies are breaking down
    • Fitness is holistic, it is taking care of the body inside and outside
    • It includes adequate sleep, rest and recovery, flexibility, mental and emotional health, overall strength and cardio capabilities
    • Fitness is the holistic adventure of maintaining your physical temple of the Holy Spirit so you can know Him more

      • How is your fitness doing in light of what we talked about today? Great, okay, terrible?
      • What areas of your fitness are pain points and what are strengths? Sleep, mental health, cardio, nutrition?
      • Why would progress in my overall fitness lead to a better relationship with God?
