Stop Trying to Fix Yourself – God’s Grace Is Waiting

Romans 5:8 – But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Christ died for you, while you were still a sinner. How awesome is that!

Most Christians have this mindset that they need to clean themselves up before they come to God. But that’s just not how God works.

God says come as you are.

If someone you loved was in a serious accident and they were losing a lot of blood, you wouldn’t take them home and get them showered up, brush their teeth, and do their hair before taking them to the emergency room. No, that’d ridiculous! Instead, you would do anything in your power to get them to the emergency room and to the doctors to stop the bleeding.

No, while we were still sinners God looks at you, He looks at me, and points at us and says that one right there. Yes, that one, dealing with that shame, that guilt, that addiction, that hidden sin, that pride and self-righteousness. Yes, that one is mine. Oh, and by the way, they don’t owe me anything. I will pay the price for them in full.

The first part of my story, is marked by walking away from God not pursuing Him, and walking in sin. I didn’t do anything for Him to continue to pursue me and chase me down and tackle me and get ahold of my life. Yet, He loved me enough to let me go to the things of this world and have them let me down, in order that I would recognize my need for Him. And while I was sinning, He loved me just the same, the whole time.

Please don’t ever think you are too far gone for God.

There is nothing in all creation that can separate us from the love of God.

I don’t care what you have done in your past or what you will do in your future. The love and grace of Christ is all consuming.

Let Him die for you. It is very hard to accept this unearned grace. But it is so worth it.
