The Men of Iron Minute

Super Bowl Sunday
If you read the last blog, it’s no secret who I am cheering for on Super Bowl Sunday. I can’t help but think of what Nobles Darby IV said on the latest Men of Iron Podcast.
“I just want to see the name of Jesus be lifted up in sports. God wants us to prioritize a souls over stats mentality.”
A souls over stats mentality. Yes we most likely will have a rooting interest in what team wins Sunday, but on the biggest stage in all of sports, its about seeing the name of Jesus lifted up. Look for those moments and soundbites. In the middle of the chaos that is the Super Bowl, you will find opposing teams praying together at midfield, and players thanking their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
You may not be Saquon Barkley, or even anywhere close to his football stratosphere, but you do have a platform of influence. You have a circle of influence. How are you living out a souls over stats mentality in your workplace, as a boss, as an employee, at home? When the lights are bright, how are you pointing others to Jesus?
It starts with making sure your soul is in the right place. Making Jesus the foundation of everything that you do.
When we as men prioritize the health of our soul God allows everything else to flow from a place of priority because our priority is Him.
When the final whistle blows and the confetti falls, the scoreboard will show a winner (Eagles) and a loser (Chiefs). But in the grand scheme of life, the ultimate victory isn’t measured in points or championships, it isn’t measured in career success or life achievements. It’s found in a life built on Jesus. It’s about being a Hall of Famer for your wife, your kids, and your kid’s kids.
So as we enjoy Super Bowl Sunday, let’s also remember what’s most important. Let’s be men who lift up the name of Jesus in whatever arena we find ourselves in. Leading with faith, integrity, and a souls-over-stats mentality. Because at the end of the day, the real legacy we leave behind isn’t about what we accomplish, it’s about who we are playing for.
