The Men of Iron Minute

The Magnetism of Strength

Strength is a magnetic idea. We all have some measure of potential, and the uses of our masculine strength draw and repel. Ernest Becker posited something similar in his book, The Denial of Death, noting that humans naturally draw toward heroic figures that are not as broken and helpless as we are. Those who have great physical or moral strength enamor most men. History has well-documented men of renown like Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. Their moral heroism is cast from their mutual belief in human equality.

One hundred years apart, Lincoln’s Gettysburg’s Address of 1863 and King’s “I have a dream” speech of 1963 echo from the same bell of freedom. We are building on their ideals, and their example draws men upward! Courage and strength are compelling and admirable. Men risking their lives and reputation to stand for a just cause is the trumpet call for noblemen. I have a hunch that even from an early age, we have been drawn to these types of masculine ideals.

Your strength repels weakness and draws strength out of others. True masculine strength is of God. Form fits function and glorifies the Maker when used properly.

Do something.

Dare greatly.

Be a better man.
