Trust God’s Timing
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Proverbs 16:9 (ESV)
I spoke earlier this week about my move from Atlanta to Pennsylvania right before the pandemic and how the timing didn’t make sense. It was a dream for my wife and I to move back to our hometown in Pennsylvania to raise our boys and build my business. The move was successful, but the work didn’t follow.
During this time, it was easy for me to be mad at God, to question him. I thought, why move us right before a very difficult time in history. Why would you have me leave all my hard work behind?
In the moment I didn’t understand what he was teaching me.
As I look back now, having us move before the pandemic was the perfect time. Right before we moved, we sold our house, providing some financial stability until I could find work. We had family close by in our bubble to help if we needed it.
Truth is, there was no work in Atlanta either, and had I stayed it could have been disastrous. I didn’t have the financial stability to weather that big of a storm in life, it was by relocating that we were able to stay afloat and ultimately take steps toward stable work.
So often I look back over my life and see God’s hand in it. Even though I didn’t see it in the moment.
This move was a reminder to me that God can make a way when there is no way.
What I thought was poor timing on God, turned out to be the perfect time. What is a moment in your life where you had to trust God’s timing?
