What’s Your Contingency Plan?

In the realm of elite military forces, Navy Frogmen (S.E.A.L.) embodies adaptability and swift thinking. No mission is textbook, so they develop contingencies to maneuver the wild turns and unforeseen obstacles lurking in the shadows. This is where the true mettle of their brilliance shines through.

As these determined Frogmen plunge into the deep unknown, unexpected challenges emerge. The plan seems to unravel, but they rise to the occasion instead of faltering. Through a seamless display of teamwork and razor-sharp instincts, they deploy contingencies that were drilled into them during rigorous training. A common phrase in the special ops community rings true, “No plan survives first contact with the enemy.” In other words, what’s your contingency? We must plan for the things that can go wrong by identifying contingencies for each action.

From swiftly altering routes to employing unorthodox techniques, the Frogmen transform setbacks into steppingstones. Their camaraderie and unwavering focus on the mission allow them to navigate these uncharted waters. We won’t be elite Navy Frogmen, but we can use their wisdom to prepare for our own twists and turns.

So, you decided to take back your health and fitness. With excitement, you chose a course of action to complete your fitness mission, but then, you slept in or woke up sore from the day before or got busy. What do you do? A man must be flexible. Things will come up. Kids will get sick. Your wife will work late. You will take a work trip. It would help if you had a contingency plan.

 

First.

Avoid all-or-nothing thinking.

Second.

Beware of ironic rebound.

 

Reflect on the setback and acknowledge the event happened.

Reframe your goals and priorities.

Reconnect to your health and fitness routine.

 

Be a mentor.

Find a mentor.

Be a better man.
