Why Men Are Susceptible to Lies?
When we consider the lies that we believe as men, what can we point to as the root issue? The root of the issue is pride.
Pride convinces us to see ourselves as more in control than we truly are. Pride dismisses the reality of God’s sovereignty. As men we want to think we are in control and we don’t need any help, but this blinds us to the truth that we are not.
When you really think about it, it’s comical that we subconsciously think of ourselves as wiser than God. This prideful mindset leads us into the trap of self-reliance, which distances us from our Creator.
The Bible is clear about the source of these deceptions. It describes Satan as the prince of this world, the enemy who actively opposes God and seeks to distort the truth. Satan’s lies appeal to our fleshly desires, and insecurities. Satan’s tactics are subtle yet cunning, making us question God’s goodness and wisdom.
The apostle Paul warned about this in his letters, saying, “I don’t want you to be ignorant of his devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11). Men, this is absolutely vital that we why we must remain grounded in God’s Word.
God’s Word exposes Satan’s lies and reveals the truth.
Think about this today, where have you allowed pride to take root? What lies have you believed about yourself, your abilities, or your control over life? Thinking through this and identifying these lies will help you surrender these to God. When we lay down our pride and confront the lies, we open ourselves to a deeper and richer relationship with our Heavenly Father.
