Day 1 – BUILD YOUR HOUSE

There’s a story of an elderly carpenter who planned to retire, so he approached his boss to deliver the news. His boss was sad to see him go. He had been a great employee over the years.

After much thought, the boss asked if he could build one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter agreed, but in time, it was easy to see that his heart was not in the work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career.

When the carpenter finished, his boss came to inspect the house. The contractor handed the keys to the carpenter. “This is your house,” he said. “It’s my gift to you.”

What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, then he would have done it all so differently.

The same holds true for each of usWe build our lives in a distracted way, rather than being unwilling to put up with less than the best. On important points, we don’t give the job our best effort. Then, with a shock, we look at the situation we created and find we’re now living in the house that we built. If we realized that, we would do it differently.

Think of yourself as a carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. You must choose to build wisely because it’s the only life you will ever live.

You’re building your life day by day, so live with PURPOSE

Men – what you are about to experience is not a DEMOLITION project. Don’t feel the need to completely tear yourself down because you haven’t been living with purpose.

What you are about to experience is a REMODELRemodeling a house brings it new life, so get to work and allow God to bring new life to you! He will guide, but you must do the work. And you can’t do the work until you have a set of BLUEPRINTS to remodel your home.

THE ASSESSMENT

Before you can draw blueprints for a remodel, you have to assess your current living situation. What looks good? What doesn’t look good? What’s going to stay? What needs replaced? Use the attached assessment to rate your faith, family, friends, fitness and finances. This assessment will guide your blueprints (print and fill out).
