Good Morning!

Proverbs 6:6-9 says, “Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep?

Throughout the book of Proverbs, Solomon is giving instruction, wisdom and warnings to his son. In this case, he’s warning his son about laziness – the snare. Laziness is the mentality of “I can hold off…” or “I can do this later…”

But Solomon is drawing his son’s attention to the ant – a creature with a lot of wisdom in how it spends its time. And Solomon is telling his son, “Look at the ant – consider how it spends its time and be wise!” He’s telling his son that work ethic is more valuable than skill set – so get to work.

When it comes to your finances, career, job, business – it is your responsibility. You will never experience balance in this area if you fall victim to laziness – or if you manage time poorly – or if you rely on other people.

Our work ethic and attitude are much more valuable than our abilities and skill set, yet some of us become paralyzed in our careers or finances because we view ourselves in a negative light. We don’t think we have what it takes to be successful, so we sit idle.

Solomon tells us differently.

The first order of finances is to accept responsibility and be willing to work hard.
