LEGS WORKOUT

(F)REEDOM

“In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.”

(Ephesians 3:12 NIV)

Welcome back brothers! I hope you’re already feeling those chest and back workouts from our first two days together! I know you’re all super excited to be hitting legs today if you haven’t already!

Earlier this week we talked about keeping our focus fixed as we meditated on the powerful truth of John 8:36. If you haven’t put it on a notecard where you see it consistently, I encourage you to do so. Let the truth of His word penetrate your heart on a regular basis

Today is our leg day, and I want to share story about the first time I “attempted” to “run” on the treadmill.

I remember seeing college athletes in the gym and thinking, “I’ve got this. This should be easy.”

WRONG! I was in the worst shape of my life. I couldn’t even powerwalk for half a mile without getting winded. I left the gym discouraged. My self-esteem was now lowerI had not properly prepared for what I wanted to do. There was no stamina, no endurance, no training schedule in play. I thought I could sprint right out of the gate and expect immediate results. Again, WRONG!

How many times have we fallen into a similar trap in our journeys of spiritual growth? We give our lives to the Lord and expect problems to immediately disappear. However, the reality is, the load gets heavier.

This is why I love the promise of today’s passage. When we go to Him, with ANYTHING, we can do so with FREEDOM and CONFIDENCE.

Something powerful is unlocked in those moments we choose to surrender. It gives way to a posture that creates space for the Lord to move. And that freedom and confidence (that’s already been given to us), begins to expand to areas of our hearts we didn’t know needed healing.

I didn’t realize how much preparation is needed in overcoming an obstacle, but the phrase “little by slowly” has become one of my all-time favorites to speak over myself. Give yourself time, patience, and grace, but, men, BE PREPARED!

For today’s challenges:

  • I want you to complete today’s workout and invite another brother to join you.
  • Write out ONE to THREE practical action steps to achieve your fitness goals you shared from day one.
  • Take some time throughout your day to pray: keep those palms open and go to Jesus with the FREEDOM and CONFIDENCE that is already inside of you.
